Little Rocket News&Tours

Mikey Erg / The Slow Death / Epic Problem / Rowdy Cocks

Little Rocket Records is thrilled to announce that Mikey Erg and The Slow Death, two of our favorite stateside acts, are scheduled to land on the banks of the River Tyne for a show at The Doll at the Black Bull in Gateshead on November 10th.

Mikey Erg is one of the busiest men in punk rock these days. Well known for his band The Ergs, he also plays with Worriers, Star Fucking Hipsters, The Dopamines, The Unlovables, Dirtbike Annie, Parasites and more. In 2016, he released his first solo album, Tentative Decisions, produced by Jeff Rosenstock (Bomb the Music Industry).

Erg’s songs are melodic and energetic, laying bare the experiences of growing older, working a job and struggling through relationships. But don’t be mistaken – this is no pity party. Mikey Erg’s music is pure, powerful, unbridled fun.

Erg shares the bill with Minneapolis, Minnesota’s bitterest sons, The Slow Death – a band that draws heavily from the working class themes of Cock Sparrer, the melancholy weight of the Lemonheads and the rowdy, gruff energy of Tiltwheel.

The Slow Death’s frontman, Jesse Thorson (Pretty Boy Thorson, the Petty Larcentists), is a lyrical master churning out sharp insightful songs with dark wit and acute observations about daily life and matters of the heart, writing across the board about dirty jokes, whiskey and romantic remorse. Here at Little Rocket we refer to him as the greatest songwriter of our time, and have dubbed him “The Shane MacGowan of the Midwest.”

Also on the bill: Epic Problem and Rowdy Cocks.
If you’re kicking yourself for not traveling stateside for The Fest in Gainesville, this show will offer a balm for your broken punk rock heart.
